Yesterday I was lucky enough to fish the new Wasana Fishing Park before the official opening. This looks set to be a cracking little park with a wide variety of species, good sized fish and excellent value for money. The first fish I hooked into was most likely a Mekong, it stripped line from my reel slowly but powerfully. I cranked up the drag, straightened the hook lost the fish. Next was an Amazon red tail catfish, they always put up a good fight. The fish kept biting steadily throughout the day.

I ended the day with 4 Amazon red tail catfish, possibly the second largest on the scales at 11kg, 2 spotted sorubim both around 5kg, 3 walking catfish largest around 3kg, 3 common carp largest around 2.5kg, 3 striped catfish/Mekong catfish crosses largest approx 1.5kg, 1 Siamese carp on the scales at 8.5kg, 1 rohu approx 1 kg, 1 tambaqui around 7 or 8 kg, 1 small Nile tilapia. And that little lot before the park is fully stocked. Unfortunately for me the arapaimas and Jullien’s golden carp remained elusive. I will publish full details on this new park in next few days.
